At Loughborough Road dental practice we really believe in prevention as the key to a healthy mouth. We believe that in modern society it is no longer acceptable for anyone to lose their through preventable gum disease.

Our dentists work closely with our experienced team of hygienists to help you to keep your teeth for life. You do not need to be a registered patient of the practice to access our hygienist services. Whether you already have your own dentist or not, anyone can book an appointment simply contact us.

    Will having my teeth cleaned be painful?
    No a routine clean and healthy mouth quick painless and leaves your mind feeling great. Some patients have sensitive teeth or need gum treatment which requires a little local anaesthetic before cleaning to ensure their comfort.

    How often should I have my teeth cleaned?
    Simply, it depends on how much plaque you build up. This variable is dependent on genetics, your cleaning routine and external factors like smoking, red wine, coffees etc.

    Yes, Our team of four experienced hygienist regularly treat patients from other practices or “drop in ” patients just needing a clean.

    How much does dental hygiene cost?
    For members of one of our dental plans regular hygiene visits are included . pay-as-you-go or occasional patients visit our treatment cost page.

    Dental hygienists are specially trained to work as part of the dental team to give care to patients.
    The hygienist main work is to prevent and treat gum disease which includes professionally cleaning your teeth by removing plaque and tartar (usually called scale and polish for prophylaxis) however, perhaps their most important role is demonstrating the best way to keep your teeth free of plaque. This is the sticky coating that phone is constantly on your teeth and is the main cause of dental decay and gum disease.

    Hygienists also give advice about diet and other ways of preventing tooth decay. Our dental hygienists are all extremely experienced and registered with the General dental Council, an organisation which regulates dental professionals in the United Kingdom.

    All registrants must carry professional indemnity insurance for the protection of their patients and commit to and ongoing compulsory personal development program of postgraduate education.
